Our obedience to the will of God is what we believers must be "working towards." My desire is to always obey the Lord, but I often fail and feel unwor…thy of His grace. But it is encouraging to me that these same verses also tell us that God "works in us to do His will for His good pleasure!" The amazing God we love and serve is at work within our hearts to help us fulfill His divine purposes! All glory and honor are His forever and ever! Oh that more of us would go and preach the Gospel! What joy and satisfaction there is in doing what you were created to do. Consider these words from a wonderful Puritan of days past, Thomas Watson: "Glorifying God has respect to all the persons in the Trinity; it respects the Father who gave us life; God the Son, who lost his life for us; and God the Holy Spirit, who produces a new life in us; we must bring glory to the whole Trinity." In context, it is speaking of MORE than eternal rest. The rest is available to us today. He provides freedom from guilt, forgiveness of sins. He provides salvation. All one must do is place our faith in Him. That yoke is indeed easy!
